About the Debtfix Foundation

The Debtfix Foundation (referred to as "the Foundation") is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to offering hardship advice and personal debt management solutions to New Zealanders. We specialise in providing budgeting advice and debt management services. Debtfix is our trading name, and all services we offer are conducted on behalf of the Foundation.

Our regulatory obligations

As a registered charity, the Foundation is exempt under Financial Advice legislation and does not require a license to provide advice related to debt solutions. We do not offer financial advice on any financial products such as savings policies, insurance of any kind, pensions, or KiwiSaver schemes.

When implementing a debt solution on behalf of a client, the Foundation will take receipt of client funds, deposit them in a client account and then disburse such funds on behalf of the client.  As such, the Foundation is registered on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSP1003485) for acting as a client money handling service. You can verify the Foundation's registration by visiting www.fspr.govt.nz.

The Foundation is a member of an independent Dispute Resolution Service for disputes related to our client handling service ONLY.

The Foundation complies with the Privacy Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act, and all other relevant legislation.

Complaints process

In the first instance, if you have a problem, concern or complaint relating to our client handling service, or any advice or debt solution service that we provide, then details should be forwarded to the following:

| Debtfix Foundation | 0800 3328 101 | compliance@debtfix.co.nz | 20 Florence Avenue, Orewa, 0931 |

If our internal complaints process does not resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you can ask for the complaint to be escalated to the CEO, or the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, who will investigate the complaint and respond in accordance with their findings.

If your complaint relates to our client money handling service, and you remain dissatisfied with the results of our internal complaints process, then you may contact our external independent dispute resolution scheme. This service is free and may help investigate or resolve the complaint.

We are a member of the Financial Services Complaints Limited (”FSCL”), which can be contacted as follows:
